Who We Are
Our Mission
At Harper Phoenix Interfaith Inc., our mission is crystal clear: to empower underserved communities and confront the pervasive crisis of food insecurity, to rehouse the homeless, to provide economic mobility, including developing affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization and small-business resiliency.
Founded on the principles of community empowerment, inclusivity, and the firm belief that united action and passion can create substantial change. While not affiliated with any particular religious institution, our organization is deeply rooted in the values of faith and commitment to making a positive impact in the world.
Our journey has been one of grassroots efforts and bootstrapped initiatives, dedicated to eradicating poverty, fostering sustainable community development, and promoting economic empowerment.
What We Do
Meaningful Work
Recognizing the enormity of the challenges our society faces, Harper Phoenix Interfaith is dedicated to making a lasting impact. While our efforts are driven by our organization's focus, we spread a wide net by investing in a variety of programs.
Alignment with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
Harper Phoenix Interfaith Inc.'s mission and initiatives are in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.
Specifically, our initiatives contribute to the following SDGs:
GOAL 1
No Poverty
Our initiatives aim to address poverty and inequality by providing access to essential resources, economic opportunities, and support services for underserved communities, thereby contributing to poverty eradication.
GOAL 3
Good Health and Wellbeing
Through our Fresh Food Pantry Initiative and the Community Sponsored Agriculture (CSA) programs, we promote healthy eating habits, access to nutritious food, and overall wellbeing for individuals and families in our community.
GOAL 5
Gender Equality
The Table Financial Literacy Program focuses on empowering women and girls from low income, underserved communities, promoting gender equality and women's economic empowerment.
Our initiatives, such as Every Step Of The Way and Unity Through The Ages UTTAI, seek to address social inequalities and promote inclusion by providing support, resources, and opportunities for marginalized groups, including LGBTQ+ youth and intergenerational communities.
GOAL 10
Reduced Inequities
At Harper Phoenix Interfaith, we are deeply connected to the community we serve because we have personally experienced homelessness, food insecurity, financial barriers, and gender discrimination. Our firsthand knowledge of these challenges informs every aspect of our work, enabling us to develop solutions that are genuinely responsive to the needs and realities of those we serve.
Unlike many organizations, our team members are not just advocates but also active participants in the communities we support, lending authenticity and credibility to our efforts. By leveraging our lived experiences, we are uniquely positioned to offer meaningful support, guidance, and empowerment to individuals facing similar challenges, ultimately driving positive change from within.
We do what we do because we believe in empowering and uplifting our community through our shared experiences and commitment to creating lasting change.
